Hello beloveds! My name is Nikita and after a long while of summer laziness I’ve decided to put my mind to a little project. I’m going to blog my way through a lovely little-- albeit badly translated-- video game by the name of Final Fantasy Tactics. So, for people who have no idea what the heck that is, (Or are confusing it with its wayward siblings FFT: Advanced and FFT: A2) I’ll explain it as best as Wikipedia and I know how.
Visuals! :
Beautiful. Sorta. So, basically to get a good gist of how the game operates and I dunno, maybe to just get a little understanding of the history of the game, let’s read how Wikipedia puts it:
(Final Fantasy Tactics) a tactical role-playing game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) for the Sony PlayStation. It was released in Japan in June 1997 and in the United States in January 1998. The game combines thematic elements of the Final Fantasy video game series with a game engine and battle system unlike those previously seen in the franchise. In contrast to other 32-bit era Final Fantasy titles, Final Fantasy Tactics uses a 3D, isometric, rotatable playing field, with bitmap sprite characters
So, for people like me who don’t really get what a lot of that last sentence was about, here is an example of what the game looks like:
See? That’s what a map and sprite in this game looks like. As for the blue, that’s showing the range of movement of the character it’s surrounding. Not bad. Now, even more importantly, the setting for the game is a very Medieval inspired country by the name of Ivalice. Cool name, right? I think so. Anyway, it’s a fantastic little place with a lot of history that we shall delve into when it’s important/relevant/when I feel like it.
This game has a lot of cool elements to it and pretty rad character customization options that will come into play when I begin to actually battle and what-not. I’ll try to give you a good explanation as it occurs but I’ll be sure to keep adding photos because, let’s face it, words have a tendency to fail me.
Okay, well, I think I should really just jump right into everything and teach as we go along, yeah? So, until next blog my beloveds!
